Enjoy the delicious traditional food in Thessaloniki on this free tour. You'll be able to choose between two options, one for those with a sweet tooth and the other for those that prefer savory food.
Thessaloniki Food Tour
When making your reservation, you can choose between two options. Both have a duration of two hours:
9.10 am Free Tour
We'll meet at the White Tower and start the free tour that will show us the sweetest side of this Greek city. For two hours, we'll visit the most historic pastry shops of Thessaloniki, learning the customs of its people during breakfast.
Our guide will teach us the basics to replicate the Thessaloniki cuisine while we learn about some of its most traditional sweet recipes, such as the Trigona Panoramatos, the Tsoureki, the Rox, or the Armenovil. What's more, we can't start a day without a good Greek coffee - a key part of modern Greek culture.
1.10 pm Free Tour
If you're more into savory dishes, this is the option for you. We'll meet at Hamam Square and start touring the different markets of Thessaloniki. With this tour, we'll learn about this city's gastronomy, the most used ingredients, the history of its dishes, and the many influences other cultures have had on Greek cuisine over time.
To experience Greek cuisine, we'll then head to the Kapani Market, the Roman area of Thessaloniki, and, of course, we'll visit some of the best restaurants in the city to discover the delicious cheesecakes, the Tarhana, the squid cooked with ink sauce, or the Tyrokafteri. Bon appetite!
Free tours do not have a fixed price, rather each person offers the guide the amount they consider appropriate, depending on their level of satisfaction.
