Immerse yourself in the multiculturalism of Arusha on this guided tour. Discover the Tanzanian city's most important monuments from the Maasai market to the Clock Tower.
Arusha Guided City Tour
On the day of your guided tour, meet your guide at 8 am next to the Clock Tower, one of Arusha's most recognisable landmarks aside from the spectacular Mount Meru that overlooks the city. We'll spend the day exploring the Tanzanian city both on foot and by public transport, immersing us in the lively feel of daily life alongside the locals.
Our introduction to Arusha will begin talking about German colonisation of the region as we pass the colonial fortress known as the Boma, these days home to the Natural History Museum. We'll continue onwards to talk about the history and origins of tanzanite, the stunning and rare gemstone for which Tanzania was named.
As we learn all about the city's history, we'll delve into the local market, where you'll have the opportunity to admire the numerous examples of Tanzanian handicrafts and cuisine.
Next, we'll take a mode of public transport popularly known as kifodi to reach the outskirts of the city centre: the ideal way to discover the delights of the best food stalls in the area! After treating yourself to local specialities, we'll head back into the centre of Arusha again to visit another market, where you'll find it hard not to leave without lots of beautiful souvenirs!
After seeing the most important places of interest in Arusha, we'll make a stop at a local cafe where you'll have the opportunity to buy something to eat or drink and ask any more questions you may have about Tanzania's history and culture. The tour will come to an end at 2 pm in Arusha city centre.
