Climb to the top of Africa's most famous peak! The Marangu route will allow you to enjoy the unique environment while on the Mount Kilimanjaro Trek lasting 7 Days.
Mount Kilimanjaro Trek: 7 Days
The Marangu Route is the fastest and easiest way to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro. Most of the camps included in this route have running water and solar energy.
At the appointed time, we'll be waiting for you at the airport to take you to the hotel in Arusha, where you can settle in quietly and enjoy the views. You can take advantage to rest or inspect the area before the great adventure begins.
After a delicious breakfast, we'll meet with the Marangu route guides to get to know all the details about the expedition. We'll leave the hotel and make our way towards Marangu Gate, the gateway to the eastern part of Kilimanjaro.
Along the eight kilometres (5 miles) journey, we'll have the opportunity to see colobus monkeys and to go through eucalyptus forests. Halfway through the trip, we'll stop for lunch before continuing our journey to the Mandara Huts camp, where we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Once we've had breakfast, we'll leave the camp and walk for an hour through the jungle clearings until we reach a path full of heather, bushes and giant lobelias. We'll stop half way for lunch and to enjoy the views of the Mawenzi volcano.
After travelling eleven kilometres (7 miles), the tour will arrive at the Horombo Huts camp, where we'll admire the Kibo volcano. We'll have dinner and rest to replenish our strength.
The day will start by preparing our trekking equipment to face the third day of the route. Crossing paths full of heather, we'll arrive at the port that communicates Kilimanjaro with the other two inactive volcanoes that make up this mountain group: Mawenzi and Kibo.
After enjoying the privileged view of the volcanoes, we'll take a break for lunch and then head to the Kibo summit. We'll hike for several hours through arid terrain until we reach the top and enjoy the wonderful views.
We'll rest at the Kibo Huts camp, which has no running water.
On this day, we'll wake up at midnight to take advantage of the mild night weather as we climb to the top of the Uhuru peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro and the entire African continent. We'll hike for four kilometres (2 miles) and stop at Gilman's Point to see the ice caps that surround this crater.
As we reach the summit the first lights of the morning will illuminate the sky and we'll see the sunrise at 5895 meters (19000 feet)! We'll have time to photograph the views and enjoy being at the highest point in Africa. Then, we'll start the descent through the Alpine desert back to Kibo Huts.
At the camp, there will be time to have dinner before going to Horombo Huts for the night.
On the sixth and last day of the route, we'll start the last part of the descent of Kilimanjaro. Crossing the moors on the mountainside we'll reach the Mandara Huts, and have lunch.
We'll descend about three kilometres (2 miles) until we reach Mandara Gate, where a vehicle will take us back to the hotel in Arusha to enjoy a well-deserved rest. The adventure comes to an end!
We'll have breakfast at the hotel and head back to the airport.
For the first and final night of the trek, we'll stay at the Outpost Lodge Arusha Hotel.
