Discover the beautiful landscapes of the Yumurí River when you take our fantastic trip from Baracoa. You will pass through a magnificent canyon, visit a fascinating cocoa plantation, and dive into its crystal clear waters.
Yumuri Canyon Trip
We will meet up at 9 a.m in Baracoa's Central Plaza before setting off for the natural protected area of the Yumurí River.
No more than 20 miles outside the city, we will find ourselves in the lush tropical forest, making our way through dense green vegetation. We will visit a fantastic cocoa plantation where you will learn all about the cultivation and production of this tasty product. You will even have the chance to try some for yourself.
After regaining our energy with the cocoa, we continue our visit by heading to the Yumurí River canyon. We will see the sheer cliffs rising more than 600 feet on either side all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, we will learn the fascinating story behind how the river earned its name from the Indians. Then, we cross the river in a small fishing boat and hike for 20 minutes to an idyllic natural pool where you can take a dip.
The final stop on our brilliant adventure is at a beach. There you will enjoy your own free time to taste the local fish and enjoy the crystal waters where the Yumurí River meets the ocean.
We will return to Baracoa, arriving at around 5 pm.
