Montserrat Full Day Trip
At 11 am on the day of the tour, we'll set off from Barcelona in the direction of the monastic complex of Montserrat, one of the artistic and monumental jewels of the Catalan mountain range. The journey takes just 60 minutes!
To reach the monastic retreat, nestled in spectacular mountain landscapes, we'll board the Aeri de Montserrat cable car. The views from its cabins are truly breathtaking! We'll then embark on our guided tour, visiting the Royal Basilica of Montserrat. Pilgrims from across Europe, the Renaissance genius Leonardo Da Vinci, and the Nazis, all came to Montserrat in search of something. As you hear the mysteries and legends surrounding this iconic landmark, you will admire the principle works of the temple. Among them is the carving of the Virgin of Montserrat, "La Moreneta", the patron saint of Catalonia (visit not guaranteed).
After visiting the Basilica and the Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, you'll have free time to explore the area at your leisure. You might choose to visit the Escolania de Montserrat where, depending on the season, there is the possibility of attending a live concert of its famous boys' choir (concert not guaranteed or included).
We'll then meet back up and make our way to a typical Catalan farmhouse for 2:30 pm, where we'll enjoy a hearty lunch of local delicacies including a salad starter, a barbecue main course (vegetarian option available) and a dessert.
With renewed energy, we'll make the return journey to our original departure point in Barcelona, arriving back around 6:30 pm.
