Punting in Cambridge
Enjoy the most iconic experience in Cambridge, punting along the River Cam. You'll see emblematic university buildings, famous bridges and so much more!
Punting in Cambridge
The most emblematic tourist attraction (although locals also love it) in Cambridge is without a doubt an experience punting along the river. If you don't know what we're talking about, it's similar to a gondola ride in Venice, where the person rowing stands at the back of the boat. This is a challenging task, so the most relaxing way to enjoy it is on a tour (where an expert punter does the hard work!).
Not only is this an entertaining activity, but it is also a great way to see some of the many incredible buildings that fill the city. As you sail down the River Cam, you'll see King's College Chapel, dating back to the 15th century, and Wren Library, Trinity College's famous library. You'll also see the beautiful Clare College gardens.
As you make your way down the river, you'll pass underneath many bridges including Mathematical Bridge. Did you know that for many years it was thought that Isaac Newton himself created this wooden construction? Not only that, but you'll cruise under the impressive Bridge of Sighs, a covered bridge which connects two parts of Saint John's College.
After 45 minutes sailing along the river, the punter will take you back to the jetty where you started the tour. There is no doubt that this is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Cambridge!
