Itinerary
Meet your professional English-speaking guide in Midtown Manhattan and set off on public transportation to Harlem (the transportation ticket, which costs $3, is not included in the price), where jazz and gospel music are part of the heritage and spirit of this unique neighborhood.
Home to a multi-ethnic community, Harlem has become especially famous for its “soul food”, delicious African-American cuisine that mixes many ingredients, some of which come from Africa and other from the Americas. During this unique gourmet tour, you’ll discover the district’s culture through its exquisite cuisine.
Your guide will lead you through the vibrant streets to the Apollo Theatre, one of the world’s most emblematic cultural landmarks and where the Jackson 5 began their music career. The surrounding bars and restaurants serve tasty fried chicken, a must in any soul food cuisine. Then, try another of Harlem’s favorites, its renowned waffles. You’ll learn that there are many ways to prepare this treat!
During this foodie tour you’ll walk past several churches with gospel choirs. When the mass services finish, many congregants head to some of Harlem’s best bakeries and we’ll do the same. Their freshly made cupcakes and cakes are irresistible.
Learn about the neighborhood’s history and how it was founded by the Dutch while you visit five of its most famous restaurants, bakeries and foodie destinations before heading back to Midtown Manhattan.
