Harper Lee's 1960 novel To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic of modern American literature. The Pulitzer Prize winner is inspired by the author's childhood experiences of an event that occurred in her Alabama hometown. Despite dealing with the serious matters of rape and racial inequality, the story is renowned for its warmth and humour.
Only opening in December 2018, the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird quickly became the highest-grossing American play in history, reflecting the global phenomenon of the novel on which it is based.
Shubert Theatre
The Shubert Theatre is located in Midtown Manhattan in the heart of the Broadway theatre district. It was opened in 1913, has a capacity for 1,460 and has been designated a New York City landmark. In addition to hosting numerous successful stage productions, it has been a recurring venue for the Tony Awards.
