Discover one of the most impressive natural landscapes in Galicia on this day trip to the mythical Costa da Morte and Finisterre from Pontevedra. You'll be enchanted by the wild scenery!
Costa da Morte & Finisterre Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet in front of the Chapel of San Roque ready to leave Pontevedra behind for the day. From there, we'll set off along the Costa da Morte towards Finisterre. This rugged stretch of coastline earns its name, which translates as "Death Coast", from the countless shipwrecks it has seen over the centuries. You'll be blown away by its wild landscapes!
Our first stop will be in the village of Pontemaceira, a place of passage for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Here, we'll hear all about the mythical legends and shipwrecks that have taken place here. We'll then make our way to Muxía, where we'll visit the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca and reveal the secrets of this historic temple, which dates back long before Christianity came to the region.
Continuing on our route, we'll next reach the lighthouse of Finisterre, the end of the famous Camino de Santiago for thousands of pilgrims. Did you know that this place was considered the end of the world in Celtic and Roman cultures? It was also known as the gateway to the afterlife! After visiting the lighthouse, you'll have two hours of free time to have lunch in Finisterre village and taste the delicious cuisine of Galicia.
After eating, we'll visit the Ézaro Waterfall, one of the only rivers in Europe that ends with a waterfall cascading directly into the ocean. Finally, we'll get to learn all about one of Galicia's most typical and emblematic rural constructions visiting the Hórreo de Carnota, one of the longest of its kind.
On the way back, we'll keep you entertained with more stories about the Costa da Morte's history and legends. After a full day of fun, the tour will end, arriving back in Pontevedra at 6:30 pm.
