Discover the delicious secrets of Cambodian cuisine enjoying a cooking class in Siem Reap. An expert local chef will teach you the Asian country's most traditional recipes, before you indulge in a tasting of them all. Mouth-watering!
Cambodian Cooking Class Itinerary
On the day of your cooking class, meet your guide at King's Road Angkor, a contemporary Khmer-style market where many of Siem Reap's locals flock daily to gather their food supplies. From here, you'll climb aboard a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and head out of the city centre to a traditional village in the outskirts.
During your journey through Siem Reap and its surrounding area, you'll hear all about the deep-rooted culture and customs surrounding Cambodian cuisine, which you'll later put into practice when you cook the different local recipes. Reaching the kitchen where your workshop will take place, you'll meet your expert chef and begin the practical side of your experience: learning to make three traditional Cambodian dishes plus a dessert. Ready, steady, cook!
Step by step, your chef will reveal the key techniques needed to cook these Cambodian dishes according to the traditional recipes. You'll make amok, aromatic fish steamed in banana leaves and one of Cambodia's most famous dishes; mango and prawn summer rolls; soup with fish balls, and a dessert of banana and coconut syrup. While you cook, you'll learn all about the other delicacies made with the fresh ingredients you use.
For the finishing touch, you'll get to taste all of your mouth-watering creations - the perfect end to this unique experience! What's more, you'll be given a free recipe book of Cambodian dishes so you can recreate your expert chef's skills at home! You'll then return to Siem Reap for around 7:30 pm.
