Peneda-Gêres National Park Hike
We'll meet at 10 am at Avenida 25 de Abril de Soajo and walk to Peneda-Gêres, the only National Park in Portugal!
Within this beautiful protected natural environment, located next to the Portuguese-Spanish border, we'll go on a low-difficulty walking route. This route will last between six and eight hours, as we'll adapt the walk to the group's pace. We'll also be able to appreciate the flora around Peneda-Gerês whose species include holly, beech and birch trees.
We'll cross different mountain paths used by shepherds to guide their flocks. These trails will be perfect for getting to know the culture of the Serra de Soajo, considered to be one of the areas in northeast Portugal with the greatest biodiversity. There is no shortage of reasons for this, as it is home to numerous examples of roe deer, mountain goats, wild boar and a native breed of horse called garranos.
During the route, we'll make several stops and take advantage of one of these breaks to sample Portuguese products, including the region's typical wines and meats.
The trekking route through Peneda-Gerês will end returning to the starting point, where we'll arrive between 4 and 6 pm.
