Trapani Guided Tour
Walking Tour Details
We’ll meet at number 44 Via Garibaldi to begin our guided walking tour of Trapani. Are you ready to discover one of the most picturesque towns in western Sicily?
First of all, we’ll walk along Via Garibaldi and Via Torrearsa, two of Trapani’s best-known streets. Do you know why they’re so popular? We’ll find out!
When we reach the junction of Via Torrearsa and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, we’ll take a look at the Palazzo Cavarreta from the outside. This 15th-century palace is also known as the Palazzo Senatorio, as it currently houses the city’s offices and the city council.
Just a few metres from the palace, we’ll see the church of the Collegio dei Gesuiti, a Baroque parish church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. This church, situated right on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, forms part of a large religious complex that also includes the buildings of the former Jesuit college and convent.
Our next stop will be in front of the Cathedral of St Lawrence the Martyr, whose origins date back as far as the 14th century. After learning about its history, we’ll continue our tour of Trapani towards the Church of the Souls in Purgatory, another extraordinary example of the city’s Baroque religious architecture.
Finally, we’ll walk along the quayside of Trapani harbour and stop at Piazza Garibaldi, in the vicinity of which we’ll conclude this guided tour, which lasts 1.5-hours in total.
