York Pass

The most popular attractions included on York's sightseeing pass are:

  • York Minster
  • York Dungeon
  • Jorvik Viking Centre
  • York Cruise
  • York Sightseeing Tourist Bus (doesn't operate in December, January and February)
  • Barley Hall
  • Clifford's Tower
  • Merchant Adventurers' Hall
  • York Army Museum
  • Roman Bath Museum

While entrance to these attractions already more than makes up for the price of the York Pass, the sightseeing card also offers free access to York Mansion HouseVan Gogh: The Immersive Experience, or Fairfax House. You'll also get great discounts on selected shops and restaurants. But please note that pre-booking is required for some of the included attractions.

How does it work?

Your York Pass will be valid from the time that you first use it in an attraction. From that moment, it'll be valid for the amount of selected time (1, 2, or 3 days). The first day will end at 11:59 pm regardless of the time that you first used it.

The passes must be used on consecutive days.

The York Pass permits one-time free access to each attraction.

Collecting your York Pass

Collect your York Pass from the Visit York Information Centre, located at 1 Museum Street, York. The office is open daily between 9 am and 5 pm, except Sundays, when it opens between 10 am and 4 pm.

While you'll have to select a specific date when you make your purchase, you'll be able to collect your York Pass on any day. Equally, the York Pass is valid from the time of first use, not from the day of collection.

Children under 5 years old

Children's York Passes are for children between 5 and 16 years old. The majority of attractions offer free entry to children under 5 years old. We recommend consulting the attractions' websites before visiting for more information.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q - What is the ETA?

A - The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) is a mandatory electronic travel permit for certain nationalities visiting the UK for tourism, business, or transit. It’s applied for online, costs £16, and is linked to your passport.

  • Q - Who needs an ETA?

A - Everyone needs an ETA to travel to the UK, except British and Irish citizens and those who already require a visa to enter the country.

  • Q - How do I apply for the ETA?

A - You apply online through the official UK Government website or app. You’ll need a valid passport, a recent photo, your travel details, and a payment card. Approval can arrive within minutes, though it may take up to three working days. Once granted, the ETA is valid for two years (or until your passport expires, whichever comes first).

  • Q - Which local supplier will be providing the tour?

A - Turbopass Corporate name: Turbopass GmbH Registered Office: Niederwall 53, Bielefeld, Germany Tax Identification Number (VAT ID): DE290395711 Contact information Email: b2b@turbopass.com Phone: +49 40 87880983-50

  • Q - What happens if I travel without an ETA?

A - If your nationality requires an ETA and you don’t have one, you won’t be allowed to board a flight to the UK—even for a layover.

  • Q - Why do this activity with Civitatis?

A - At Civitatis, we offer tickets at official prices, with full transparency and exclusive benefits for our users. In a few exceptional cases (less than 5%), these rates may be slightly higher than the ticket office price as they include booking fees and/or audio guides. The advantage is that your spot is guaranteed, and you won’t have to wait in line at the ticket office(although there may still be wait time at security and to access the monument).

  • Q - How to book?

A - To reserve the activity, choose the date and complete the form on this page. You will receive your confirmation immediately.
