Discover the villages of Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Ay, considered to be the birthplace of French champagne with this E-bike Champagne Day Tour & Lunch - a truly unique experience!
E-bike Champagne Day Tour & Lunch
We'll meet at 9.45 am at 20 Avenue de Champagne, in front of the Dom Pérignon sculpture which presides over the entrance to the Moët & Chandon wineries. From this central point in Épernay, we'll travel by minibus to the picturesque town of Mareuil-sur-Ay.
In this beautiful village, considered to be a birthplace of French champagne, we'll stop at a country house, Le Clos Corbier. From this traditional house, we'll start an electric bicycle tour through the surrounding vineyards. During this route, we'll see the famous champagne terroirs, the plots where the vines grow.
Do you know how the grapes used to produce sparkling wines are grown? To discover it, we'll pedal to a family winery in the area. Inside its facilities we'll see how this drink is produced and taste 3 homemade champagnes.
The bike route will continue to the village of Hautvillers, to see the church containing the remains of Dom Pérignon, and we'll explain why this 17th century monk revolutionised champagne-making! We'll then ride along the banks of the Marne River canals.
The tour will end returning to Le Clos Corbier in Mareuil-sur-Ay, where a succulent traditional French three-course lunch awaits us - delicious! After lunch, we'll go by minibus to another family winery to taste their sparkling wines. What more could you ask for?
The tour will end by returning to the starting point in Épernay, arriving at 5:45 pm.
