Highly recommended. Doreen was lovely and kind. She told us many stories and anecdotes during the trip. The places we visited were beautiful. If you don't want to do the castle activity, she offers an alternative while the rest of the group goes. A wonderful excursion.

Discover some of the most spectacular scenery of Scotland when you take this trip to Loch Ness and the Highlands. This is an essential day out for anyone visiting Inverness.

Loch Ness and the Highlands Trip

After meeting up in the morning at Railway Terrace in Inverness, we'll board the comfortable vehicle, which will follow the Caledonia canal all the way to the world-famous Loch Ness. Not just one of the most beautiful spots in the United Kingdom, this is also one of the most enigmatic places in the world, due to the legend of the mythical Loch Ness Monster. Will you manage to see Nessie on your trip?

Our first stop on our route around the lake is Dochgarroch. Here, you have the opportunity to take a wonderful boat ride on the Loch, which you'll watch from the outside of the ruins of the 13th century, Urquhart Castle. You will then have your own free time to explore the area and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view across the lake.

Later, we will head to the small village of Invermoriston, where we'll make a brief pause to take some photos of the Thomas Telford bridge, which crosses the pretty River Moriston waterfalls. You will also see the fabled St Columba’s Well and hear its fascinating history of how it was rumored to be cursed but became a place of restorative power.

We then continue to the furthest point on our expedition, the tiny hamlet of Fort Augustus. Our guide will lead us through this picturesque settlement, where we will witness boats arriving at the Caledonia canal. Here, you will also have the opportunity to regain your strength with a delicious local meal.

After eating, we will begin our return journey to Inverness. Along the way, we will stop at the 165-foot Falls of Foyers, so you can stretch your legs and enjoy some free time in these beautiful surroundings. From there, we then continue to our last stop at the picturesque village of Dores, where we will walk along the lake's east shore and take in the fine views.

We'll arrive back at the meeting point between 8 and 9 hours after the start time, where the tour finishes, and we bid farewell.
