Are you ready to visit one of the oldest Christian places of worship in Matera? We'll pick you up at the time you book from Via Alessandro Volta and hop on a minibus to set off on a 30-minute journey to the Cripta del Peccato.
You'll have half an hour to explore the cave at your leisure. Your audio guide will draw your attention to fascinating details on the paintings and tell you all about them. The frescoes painted on the cave walls date back to the 9th century and depict several scenes from Genesis.
The most famous painting in the crypt is one that portrays the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise with a fig symbolising the forbidden fruit. Find out the reason for this during the tour!
At the end of the visit, we'll return to the minibus and go back to Matera after a two-hour tour.
